Brownrice News

Brownrice business is up nearly 18% in the first 5 months of 2014 across all of our services!  This is very fun.  Customers seem to be rejecting the volume-based providers for our smaller, more personal support approach.  Having a brand-new, super green data center, great rates and ripping speeds and reliability seems to be helping as well.

2014 Highlights include:

– Brownrice purchased two hosting companies and smoothly transitioned their customer web sites and servers into our data center.  Lots of happiness all around.

– Strong growth continues via co-location, dedicated servers, and rack rentals.  Customers include hosting providers, VPS providers, and IT firms setting up redundancy, disaster recovery, and remote backup servers.  Of special note is the founder of Gentoo Linux and Funtoo Linux, Daniel Robbins, who has moved the Funtoo servers into our DC.  Super nice guy as well!

– While web and email hosting continues excellent growth our “PCI compliant” virtual hosting servers are leading the charge.  Affordable and easy VPS’s with enhanced security seems to be providing IT people with much relief.

Web camera hosting is a nice niche market that we entered a couple of years ago and we are now quickly snatching up much of the global market share.  Again, its the speeds and great prices which are driving customers to BRI.

What’s on the horizon for us?  Solar!  Since we’re in an extremely sunny location its silly for us not to be utilizing solar power.  We’ve received quotes from multiple commercial solar installers and are aiming at having a 45Kw solar array with electric car charging capabilities in place to power our data center within the next 12 months.  This will be another fun project.  Updates will be coming via this newsletter.

If there’s anything we can do for you or your company please shoot me an email directly.

Thank you!
